Our take

Sea views and space for families

Ikos Oceania opened in 2015 as the very first Ikos resort, with its sister Ikos Olivia following along the same coast. Landscaped gardens lead down to a long beach of golden sand backed by fir trees, and twelve of its thirteen room types look out to sea.

Families have plenty of choice, from junior suites to one and two-bedroom family suites with gardens, and there are six outdoor pools, including an infinity pool. Almost everything is included, from Fresco, with a menu by Michelin-starred chef Ettore Botrini, to the Beach Club with its resident DJs and Dine Out at two local restaurants.

Ikos Oceania is the one we'd choose when a sea view matters: nearly every room type looks out to sea, and the restaurants gaze across the water to Mount Olympus. At about 40 minutes from Thessaloniki, it's also the easier transfer with little ones. It suits families who want space and couples who want sea views, and reviewers regularly praise the service and the Beach Club. With every room and suite being redesigned for 2027, it's a fresh choice for next season.

What we tell every guest

  • With little ones, choose a family suite with a separate bedroom, so naps can happen behind a closed door.
  • Book crèche and kids' club sessions before you travel: ratios are strict, so spaces are limited.
  • In the Deluxe Collection you can make unlimited restaurant reservations before you arrive, so you can lock in tables that fit around bedtime.
  • Ikos Oceania is the closer of the two Ikos resorts in Halkidiki to Thessaloniki airport, about 40 minutes by road.
  • Rooms and suites are being redesigned for 2027. Ask us for the latest photos and layouts when we quote.
  • For a grown-up evening, book dinner at Ouzo, Greek classics in a romantic open-air setting, then take a nightcap at the Adults Only Bar.

Rooms & suites

Where you'll stay

Thirteen room types in three collections, and all but the Double Room look out to sea. With children, we'd always choose a family suite with a separate bedroom. The Deluxe Collection adds a dedicated concierge, Deluxe-only pool and beach areas, unlimited restaurant reservations before you arrive and two complimentary 25-minute massages per suite. Rooms and suites are being redesigned for 2027, so the photos below show the current look.

Dining

Six restaurants, five bars

Ouzo

Greek classics with a modern twist, in a romantic open-air setting.

Fresco

Italian, with an à la carte menu by Michelin-starred chef Ettore Botrini and fresh local produce.

Anaya

Aromatic Asia, from Thailand to China and India, by Chef Thiou, in the restaurant or out on the balcony.

Provence

A simple, refined menu of southern French dishes by Pascal Barbot.

Beach Club

An all-day menu and à la carte dinner with views over the Aegean, then cocktails and the resident DJs.

Flavors

The Mediterranean buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Bars

The Lobby Bar, the Deluxe Pool Bar, the Beach Club, the Pool Bar and the Adults Only Bar.

Our tip: Book the Beach Club for at least one dinner, then go back for lunch: reviewers often single it out, and the views over the Aegean are hard to beat.

Dine Out: for a night away from the resort, eat at a local restaurant at no extra cost. At the moment that's Akti on Dionysiou Beach or Erodios in Nea Moudania.

Kids & families

Action-packed adventures for the kids

Childcare is run by trained professionals with strict child-to-adult ratios, so spaces are limited and it pays to book before you travel. Heroes Crèche, 6 months to 4 years

Educational games, sensory play, face painting, and arts and crafts, with one adult to three children for under twos, one to four for two year olds and one to six for three year olds. €42 a session, or €32 for 13:00 to 15:00.

Heroes Kids Club, 4 to 12 years

Included in your stay, with sessions from 10:30 to 13:00, 13:00 to 15:00 and 15:30 to 18:00.

Heroes Supper Club, 4 to 12 years

19:00 to 22:00, €30 per child, included for Deluxe Collection guests.

Older children

Baby kit

Baby monitors, toilet adapters, baby baths and prams on request, ramps and lifts for buggies, an indoor playroom and an adventure playground. Babysitting is extra.
