Our favourite beaches
A beach for every mood
Best for postcard scenery
Half Moon Bay
A sweeping crescent of wild, powder-soft sand on the Atlantic side. Dramatic, unspoilt and utterly photogenic. Go early: the morning light is extraordinary.
Best for calm waters
Pigeon Point
Sheltered, shallow and utterly beautiful, right by English Harbour. Ideal for a long, lazy morning before heading to Catherine's Café for the best beach lunch on the island.
Best kept secret
Darkwood Beach
Lush greenery, crystal-clear water and a reef right off the shore, so you can snorkel straight from the sand. Pop in to Aunty Cavell's for a coconut crush with Antiguan rum. Absolutely don't miss it.
Best for sunset
Valley Church Beach
Powder-soft white sand and calm, clear water make this one of the most beautiful sunset spots on the island. A cold Wadadli in hand as the sky turns pink? That's our kind of evening.
Best for snorkelling
Galleon Beach
A sheltered bay near English Harbour with exceptional water clarity. Keep an eye out for hawksbill turtles. We've spotted them near Freeman's Bay more than once.
Best for beach buzz
Dickenson Bay
The liveliest stretch of sand on the island, with beach bars, water sports and easy-going locals. If you want something going on around you, this is it.
Huben tip: if you visit Pigeon Point, walk the clifftop path from English Harbour. It takes about an hour, so set off early, and you'll arrive feeling like you've discovered it yourself.
Experiences
Moments we know you'll love
Shirley Heights on a Sunday
One of Antigua's most iconic experiences and one of our favourites. Live music, a brilliant atmosphere and panoramic views over English Harbour as the sun goes down. Send us your snaps!
Nelson's Dockyard
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016, this beautifully restored Georgian naval dockyard is still a working harbour, full of yachts, cafés and history. Wander the museum, then stay for sundowners on the waterfront.
A day on the water
Charter a catamaran to snorkel Cades Reef, drop anchor in a quiet bay and lunch on board. Private or shared, we'll find the right boat and crew for you.
Under the sea
Cades Reef is a protected marine park off the south-west coast, or you can swim straight from the sand at Darkwood and Galleon Beach. Turtles are a regular treat.
Sailing Week and the Classic Regatta
The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta runs 14 to 19 April 2027, followed by Antigua Sailing Week from 21 to 25 April. English Harbour comes alive, so book early.
Add a day trip
Barbuda, Antigua's sister island
Hop over by ferry, plane or helicopter for miles of pink-tinged sand, lobster lunches and the Frigate Bird Sanctuary in Codrington Lagoon. A day you won't forget.
Let us build these into your trip
Catamaran days, Shirley Heights with a driver waiting, a day on Barbuda. We'll arrange it all before you fly.
Savour Antigua
The tables we book for our guests
From long, lazy beach lunches to unforgettable sunset dinners, these are the places we love to eat.
Long lunch
Catherine's Café
French-inspired and right on the beach at Pigeon Point. Daybeds, an exceptional wine list and live music on Saturdays.
Long lunch by boat
The Hut at Little Jumby
For something more exclusive, take a short boat ride to this stylish beach club. Excellent food and a barefoot luxury feel, ideal for a special day by the sea.
Dinner
Le Bistro
Classic French in an intimate garden. A long-standing island favourite and always excellent for a special evening.
Dinner and sunset
Sheer Rocks
Clifftop dining above Ffryes Bay, with Mediterranean sharing plates and extraordinary views. The sunset cocktails are something else.
Dinner and drinks
Casa Roots
Bohemian, fresh and vibrant, with great cocktails and a contemporary feel. Perfect for a relaxed evening out.
Huben tip
Book daybeds and tables well ahead, especially in high season and at weekends. We're happy to take care of this for you.
Bring Antigua home
Our favourite rum punch
The best rum punch balances sour, sweet, strong and weak. Ours leans golden, fruity and just spiced enough. Makes one tall glass over ice.
- 50ml dark Caribbean rum (a double)
- 25ml golden spiced rum (a single)
- 25ml fresh lime juice
- 25ml brown sugar syrup (1:1)
- 50ml orange juice
- 50ml pineapple juice
- A dash of grenadine (about 1 tsp)
Build over crushed ice, stir gently and grate fresh nutmeg over the top. Best enjoyed at sunset. It always tastes better with a sea view.
