Peak: mid December to April

The driest, sunniest months, with February to April the best of all. Christmas, New Year, February half-term and Easter book up early, so plan ahead.

Shoulder: May, June and November

Warm, quieter and often great value. A lovely time for couples and anyone who wants the beaches to themselves.

Quieter: July to October

Hurricane season runs from June to November, peaking from August to October. Expect heat, humidity and short tropical showers, and note that some hotels and restaurants close for part of September and October.

Dates for the diary

  • Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta: 14 to 19 April 2027

Getting there

Easier than you think

British Airways flies non-stop from London Gatwick, daily through the 2026/27 winter season. The flight takes around 8.5 to 9 hours.

Virgin Atlantic also flies from London Heathrow all year, up to three times a week in winter, and touches down in Barbados on the way in summer.

On arrival at V.C. Bird International Airport, VIP fast track whisks you through. We include it on all our Antigua bookings, and a private driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel.

Fancy Club or Upper Class? BA and Virgin don't offer First on the Antigua route, but their business cabins are lovely, and we can help with seats, upgrades and lounge access to start your holiday the moment you get to the airport.

Useful information

Good to know before you go

Currency

The Eastern Caribbean dollar (XCD). US dollars are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and taxis, and cards are taken at most hotels and restaurants.

Tipping

10 to 15% is customary, in US or EC dollars. Some bills already include a service charge, so check first, and carry a little cash as cards are not always an option for tips.

Time difference

Antigua is on GMT minus 4 all year, so it is 4 hours behind the UK in winter and 5 hours behind in summer.

Getting around

Taxis are plentiful with fixed fares, but roads can be narrow and winding. We arrange private transfers and guided days out, so you can sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Electricity

US style Type A and B plugs. Most hotels can lend you an adaptor, but it is worth packing one.

Health and entry

English is the official language and no vaccinations are required for UK travellers. Drink bottled water away from your resort, and check GOV.UK for the latest entry requirements.
